Mr. Rafique Mottiar
Profile: Rafique Mottiar was Honorary Treasurer and Vice Chairman of the Irish Anti-Apartheid Movement, Executive Member of the Irish Section of the International Defence and Aid Fund, and Chairperson of the Ireland South Africa Association. Rafique is a Consultant Economist. He was part of the Team preparing the Honohan Report on the Banking Crisis: Regulatory and Financial Stability, 2003-2008. He was Consultant to the Central Bank on the Report of the Commission of Investigation into the Banking Sector in Ireland (March 2011)– The Nyberg Report. He reviewed the Committee of Public Accounts report on the financial crisis. Previously, he worked in the Central Bank since 1973, where he retired as Senior Economist. He was a member of a number of Committees and Task Forces of the European Monetary Institute, preparing the policy framework for the new European Central Bank. Since 1992, he was a member of the influential Monetary Policy Committee of the European Central Bank.
