We have yet to hear back from Fianna Fail in relation to the current pledges, so at this point we can only advise on previous statements and actions. Fianna Fail proposed the motion in the Seanad in October 2014 calling for recognition of Palestine and its members spoke in favour of the Dail Motion.

Statement from Fianna Fáil on Sadaka Pledges
Many thanks for your recent email. Ireland was the first European Union Member State to declare that a solution to the conflict in the Middle East had to be based on a fully sovereign State of Palestine, independent of and co-existing with Israel. Fianna Fáil in Government launched that policy position in 1980 and continues to strongly support that position today.
The lack of progress made in achieving that goal has been deeply unsatisfactory and has resulted in continued instability in the region. It has added to the failure to bring peace to both Israelis and Palestinian Fianna Fáil has spearheaded the campaign to seek the recognition of the state of Palestine by the Irish Government and will continue to pursue this policy in Government
Fianna Fáil continues to support any efforts to achieve a two state solution. We are deeply concerned at the continuing advance of Israeli settlements in Palestinian territory which are both illegal and make the two-state solution increasingly difficult to implement. Fianna Fail is in favour of Palestine becoming a party to the International Criminal Court and Fianna Fáil also supports an EU-wide ban on certain Israeli settlement goods within the Union.
Fianna Fáil is committed to a two state solution and will continue to work for this in government.
1. Fianna Fáil will continue to spearhead the campaign for the official recognition of Palestine.
2. We will continue to press for an end to the blockade of Gaza.
3. We support the EU ban on illegal settlement goods.
4. We will seek a suspension of military weapon contracts to Israel as part of a negotiation strategy to further the peace process.
5. We will press for Israeli recognition of the rights of Palestinian children.
Yours sincerely,
Micheál Martin
In answer to a follow-up question to clarify Fianna Fáil's position on the arms trade to Israel, Micheál Martin replied:
Many thanks again for your email.
Fianna Fáil has long called for the official recognition of Palestine and if elected to Government we will continue to spearhead this campaign. We are dismayed about the lack of progress made in this regard. Fianna Fáil will not be taking a unilateral position and as stated in our previous email any suspension of military weapon contracts to Israel should form part of a negotiation strategy to further the peace process. We will continue our efforts to bring peace to the region and to call for a two-state solution and the official recognition of Palestine.
Many thanks again for taking the time to contact me,
Kind Regards,
Micheál
